Cupe Local 15 Collective Agreement

All CUPE members work under the protection of a contract called a collective agreement. Your local negotiates the terms of the agreement. Elected local union leaders also work with the employer to resolve issues in the workplace. Vancouver City Council has ratified the terms of a new collective agreement covering the 15 internal employees represented by CUPE. Union members voted this week to accept the settlement. The new collective agreement includes 4,500 technical and administrative employees who work for: Earlier this year, a similar agreement was reached with CUPE 1004, covering external workers. Negotiations continue with unions representing the rest of the city`s workforce, including electricians and firefighters.
Negotiations with CUPE 15 began in January 2020 and were suspended for some time as we focused on our response to COVID-19 and our adaptation to the financial impact of the pandemic. The measures we implemented included a leave without pay program for all non-unionized employees and the temporary layoff of nearly 1,700 unionized employees from the city, the Park Council and the Vancouver Public Library. The term of office is three years and begins on January 1, 2020 and ends on January 31, 2020. December 2022.
